About
Deborah K. Nurnberg
Curriculum Developer & Learning Strategist
The Name Means Something
That's the truth behind Weight of the World — the idea that learning doesn't happen in a vacuum, and curriculum that ignores the weight people carry doesn't work. The systems I design start from that premise.
I'm a curriculum developer and learning strategist with fifteen years of practice across defense contracting, technology, organizational development, and education. My academic foundation is doctoral-level cognitive learning theory — which means the training systems I build are grounded in how people actually learn, retain, and apply complex information under real conditions.
Right now I'm focused on two things that intersect naturally: AI literacy curriculum for organizations navigating workforce adoption of AI tools, and individualized learning design for learners whose paths look different from the standard route. Both demand the same skill: translating what's complex into what's learnable.

Each engagement begins with understanding your learners — their context, their constraints, and what competency actually looks like in your environment.
Curriculum Design & Development
End-to-end curriculum development for corporate training, onboarding programs, and workforce development — including needs analysis, learning objectives mapping, and content architecture.
AI Literacy Program Design
Curriculum for organizations building internal AI fluency — teaching teams to work effectively, responsibly, and confidently with AI tools. Designed for non-technical audiences.
Competency-Based Learning Systems
Structured, tiered learning systems with clear competency benchmarks — from initial orientation through advanced qualification, built for measurable outcomes.
Technical, Compliance & SOP Development
Training content and standard operating procedures for complex regulatory, defense, or technical environments — translating dense compliance requirements into structured, learnable, and actionable documentation.
Knowledge Management Frameworks
Organizational knowledge systems, process libraries, work instructions, and SOPs that make institutional knowledge transferable, searchable, and durable across team transitions.
Training Needs Analysis
Gap analysis, audience assessment, and learning objective development — the front-end work that determines whether a training program will actually move the needle.
Two Practices
WoW Institutes houses two distinct practices — each serving a different learner, each grounded in the same philosophy.
Freelance Practice
Remote freelance curriculum development for organizations in defense, technology, healthcare, and corporate learning environments. Available for project-based and ongoing contract engagements.
WoW Institute of Learning
